We contribute to quality health promotion, education and poverty eradication among vulnerable communities.

Hosanna Community Bridge (HCB) is a local Community Based Organization (CBO) operating in Lira district, Northern Uganda. It is a non-profit charitable CBO, registered with Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and Lira district Local Government. It has been in operation since January, 2015.

Hosanna Community Bridge was founded in response to challenges in Education, Public health and Socioeconomic Development among the vulnerable communities. HCB supports vulnerable groups such as children, adolescents, youth, women, Persons with Disability and Persons living with HIV/AIDS to access quality health services, quality education, and improved sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Hosanna Community Bridge implements its activities through existing social community led structures, capacity building programs, awareness creation, partnership and networking strategies involving working with community support groups like farmers support groups (VSLA / SACCOS or Cooperative Societies), Village Health Teams (VHTs), Local government structures, youth groups (Champion of Change Clubs), religious leaders, cultural leaders and other related development partners.

Organization Objectives

  • To build networking activities with organization or institution relevant to the mission and programs of Hosanna Community Bridge (HCB) to exchange information, provide support and enhance capacity building with a view to maintaining close link on matters of common interest
  • To promote and increase access to sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR), services and information E.g. Ending Child marriage and teenage pregnancy, Family planning, etc
  • To strengthen community public health intervention, HIV prevention, treatment and improves on the life of those living with HIV/AIDS, fight MALARIA and other tropical diseases
  • To encourage vulnerable children, adolescents, youth and young women to attain formal and non-formal education through provision of support to quality Early childhood care and education (ECCE) programs, primary school education, secondary school education and vocational skills training as well as promote and protect children's rights
  • To contribute to the eradication of poverty through promotion of viable socioeconomic initiatives and sustainable agriculture, climate change resilience as well as proper management of natural resources (environmental protection), water and sanitation programs, food security
  • To undertake research initiatives, link with any group / groups within, or outside Uganda to ensure the protection, preservation and provision of alternative source of livelihood activities for sustainable living
  • To do such other lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the organizational vision, mission and set objectives.

Thematic Areas

The activities of HCB encompasses several areas including; education, early childhood care and education, women and girls socioeconomics empowerment, ASRHR &public health with focus on Malaria, HIV/AID'S prevention, treatment and care, community development, environment and climate change resilience as well as human rights and peace building.

  • 1. Quality Education

    HCB works to ensure and facilitate the availability of quality educational opportunity to every child everywhere. We provide support, assistance and sponsorship to underprivileged and marginalized individual children in their education. The sponsorship covers the school fees, uniform, transportation, books and others school provisions.

  • The Organization in partnership with children, families, communities and governments work to ensure protection of children from exploitation, and trafficking for domestic servitude and labour through education, awareness creation and provision of direct help to individual children. We assist parents/ guardians and families members raise family income as a support system.

  • The organization empowers women and girls to help them lift themselves out of poverty. We encourage the vulnerabilities to engage in to viable income generating activities, support community VSLA initiatives, provide micro-finance services to women and girls in rural communities to assist them in creating sustainable income from small business including, trading, vegetable farming animal rearing.
    To help in the eradication of poverty and move the poor and women towards economic sufficient we provide skills and vocational training and resources for enterprise development.

  • Hosanna Community Bridge works to promote sustainable community development through promotion of sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, climate change resilience strategies and socioeconomic empowerment.

  • Hosanna Community Bridge works to increase access to ASRHR, services and information, Malaria and HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care.

Our Partners

We are working with;

Plan International Uganda

We implemented project "I DECIDE" Phase I (from 2018 to 2021) to end child marriage and teenage pregnancy in Aromo Sub County, Lira District.
We also implemented a four (4) years "I DECIDE" Phase II (from 2022 to 2025) project to increase access to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) services and information with focus on children, adolescents and youth (CAY) aged 14-24 years.

PACE Uganda

A sub-recipient organization that HCB parterned with in 2022 to implement the Pilot Project of improving HIV/AIDS prevention treatment and care services among children, adolescents, youths and young women.

TASO Uganda

We parterned with TASO Uganda in 2022 through PACE Uganda as a sud-recipient organization with funding from Global Fund where we implemented a six (6) months Pilot Project of ending stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS with focus on children, adolescents, youths and young women including Persons With Disability (PWD) in Aromo Sub County, Lira District.

Lira District Local Government

Since 2015, Hosanna Community Bridge always implemented its projects in colaboration with both related Sub County local government strategies and district local structures to ensure project implementation quality assurance, community ownership and project sustainability through routine support supervision, monitoring and evaluation.

Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU)

From 2018 upto date,Considering the Uganda MOECS directives, Hosanna Community Bridge is working in collaboration with Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) to increase access to Quality Early Childhood Care and Education Services through training of Nursery school teachers / caregivers.
HCB does the training of the Nursery school teachers / caregivers and IUIU is the examining body.

Ndejje University

Hosanna Community Bridge always parterned with Ndejje University to train Early Childhood Development (ECD) caregivers who are upgrading for Diploma in Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher Education Program.

Makerere University

In a bid to improve Quality Education, Hosanna Community Bridge through its established Nursery Teachers College (Hosanna Nursery Teachers College) collaborated with Makerere School of Education and External Studies Program to train Early Childhood Development (ECD) caregivers from 2015 upto 2017.
